Highlighting Alameda County’s concern and dedication to sexually exploited and victimized children, the Board of Supervisors has proclaimed April 20 through April 27 2008 as Sexually Exploited Minors Awareness Week as a way to help raise awareness and to increase community commitment to aiding the victims of sexual exploitation. In honor of this special week, local social welfare administrators, government officials, KPFA Hard Knock radio show producers along with the Sexually Exploited Minors Provider Network will host a town hall meeting to discuss the growing epidemic of children as young as 10 and 11 years old ensnared into prostitution.

This event will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 3pm to 6pm at Youth Uprising, located 8711 Mac Arthur Blvd. in Oakland, CA. The event will focus on the current trends and specialized services related to supporting, treating and rescuing children and youth ensnared in prostitution and commercial sexual exploitation. It will also be broadcast live on KPFA Hard Knock Radio, 94.1 FM station.

This event is free, however space is limited! For more information or to RSVP please contact Zandra Washington, ICPC Program Specialist and Event Coordinator at (510) 618-3458 or (510) 435-9448 Email: Zandra.washington@acgov.org.
